S P Jain Invites Principals to Re-imagine Education

Sunday June 24, 2018: S P Jain School of Global Management – one of Asia’s top-ranked business schools hosted the first international principals’ get-together under the theme “Re-imagining Education in Disruptive Times”. The two-day conference was held on June 23rd and 24th at the S P Jain Dubai Campus. The Indian International Teachers’ Association (IITA) and UAE school principals and educators from S P Jain came together to discuss teaching and learning in today’s world and how the education system needs to evolve. “With the rampant disruption of technologies in every sphere, re-imagining education becomes crucial,” said S P Jain’s President Nitish Jain on the purpose of this function. He added that “conferences which create meaningful conversations like these can radically change the future of education, preparing students with the right skills and competencies to thrive in a technologically complex world.”

The keynote address was by Prof. Christopher Abraham, CEO, Sr. Vice President and Head of Dubai Campus who explained that “this 2-day conference has created a unique platform, using open forums, panel discussions and Design Thinking to dialogue, debate and reflect on how the future of education can be addressed in a meaningful manner.” He challenged the respected educators by asking them “what jobs and careers are we preparing our students for? The answer to this very critical question is quite challenging and perplexing in this era of technological disruptions. It is imperative for education leaders and academic institutions to address this question in the most meaningful manner.”

The conference began with a special address by Dr. Nirkesh Sharma, Founder of IITA and Dr. Divij Suri, the National Executive Advisor who expressed that the most important thing we can do is to inspire young minds, and this event at S P Jain is another solid step in our journey to build on that foundation.  This was followed by Dr. Kirti Khanzode, Deputy Director of S P Jain’s Undergraduate programs; who enlightened the audience about what S P Jain does to train its students to be skilled members of the global economy.

The Education Leader’s Forum was moderated by Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Global Director, Corporate Relations S P Jain and Mr. Srivalsan Murugan, Principal & CEO, Our Own English High School Sharjah-Boys. The topic was – are we preparing our children for careers that don’t exist? – The audience, which included members of the IITA as well as principals of various schools in the UAE, expressed their views on how new jobs are coming in to existence and certain mainstream jobs are becoming obsolete. The discussion revolved around the topic whether educational institutions are equipped to provide students with the necessary platforms to acquire these skills.

The conference program included two interactive workshops held for the participants – one by Prof Christopher Abraham on – Reimagining Education 4.0 with Design Thinking and another interactive session on ‘Emotional Intelligence Workshop for 21st Century Learning & Teaching’- by Ms. Bijal Oza, Director of Coaching & Counseling, S P Jain. The IITA members were then taken on a tour of the Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and the Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA) Office to know and understand the unique education system of the UAE.

The conference concluded with a panel discussion: panelists – Dr. Divij Suri, National Executive Advisor- IITA and Chairman, The Pathways International School, Kathua, J&K (India), Ms. Bharti Sharma, National Advisor (North)- IITA, Ms. Cherie Litwiller, Director-Al Najah Private School, Abu Dhabi & Mr. David Ipe, Associate Dean, The Indian High School – Dubai, moderated by Dr. Dhrupad Mathur, Deputy Director – Faculty Management. The discussion focused on the theme “Reimagining Education Beyond Borders”. Ms. Bharti remarked that “Providing more exposure to students helps them in improving their skills and widens their understanding of the world” and Ms. Cherie added that if learning must happen it should happen both inside and outside the school.

The concluding address was delivered by the President, Mr. Nitish Jain, who gave a captivating vision of S P Jain’s initiatives to reimagine education. Based on the success of this event, S P Jain intends to hold such relevant forums on a regular basis.

Terms and Conditions of Registration

The institutional representative completing this registration form accepts that s/he has the authority to confirm participation in this event on behalf of the institution, and that the institution is thereby bound by the terms and conditions of this registration.
Payment for the Tour is due within two weeks of the date of registration. This will be clearly displayed on the invoice sent to the representative’s email address provided upon registration.
Participation on this Tour is assumed as one representative per institution. Should the institution be interested in bringing (an) additional representative(s), this should be communicated with their INTCAS point-of-contact, who will advise as to additional costs and logistical arrangements.
The exhibiting institution will be liable for any additional costs incurred by INTCAS, should the institution change the name/details of its attending representative(s).
INTCAS will promote the participation of exhibiting institutions prior to the Tour, using institutional-approved content as displayed within the INTCAS platform. Any specific requests related to the promotion of an exhibiting institution should be communicated to the representative’s INTCAS point-of-contact.
Attending representatives accept that INTCAS may capture photos and record videos of the Tour, and consent to these photos and videos being used by INTCAS for its own promotional purposes via publicly accessed platforms, applications and websites.
Exhibiting institutions accept that INTCAS is not liable for any damage, loss, harm or injury experienced by the institution and its representative(s), beyond INTCAS’ reasonable control.
Exhibiting institutions accept that INTCAS may – in the best interests of the Tour – make last-minute changes to the Tour’s schedule, logistical arrangements, visited schools, etc. Any such changes will be communicated to attending representatives at the earliest possibility.
Exhibiting institutions accept that INTCAS shall not be liable for any delays or failures in performance resulting from acts beyond its reasonable control, including consequences of circumstances of Force Majeure.

Cancellation Policy
By completing this registration form, the institution agrees to the following cancellation policy:
- If notice of cancellation is received more than two months prior to event commencement, a full refund will be provided, or if unpaid the invoice will be cancelled.
- If notice of cancellation is received between one and two months prior to event commencement, a 50% refund will be provided, or if unpaid 50% of the invoice amount will be due.
- If notice of cancellation is received less than one month prior to event commencement, a refund will not be provided, or if unpaid the full invoice amount will be due. INTCAS will offer representation by way of a dedicated INTCAS counsellor at the institution’s table throughout the tour at no additional cost.
The date of cancellation is deemed as the date on which the emailed notice of cancellation is received at [email protected]
