Sharjah Research Academy and University of Sharjah Discuss Developments of Joint Research

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, 6 March 2019, (AETOSWire): Within the activities of Sharjah Research Academy (SRA) which aim at development of scientific research system in Sharjah and highlighting the current research project outputs as well as the extent of their success in the development of the local community, SRA received a large number of researchers and academic staff from University of Sharjah, and a number of government entities in a meeting held at SRA building in order to discuss the developments of joint research between SRA and University and allow for discussions on how to strengthen research cooperation in new areas.


In his welcoming speech, Prof. Amr Abdel-Hamid, SRA Director General, praised fruitful cooperation between the two institutions, which included medicine, engineering and science areas, as well as encouragement of researchers in other fields including human and literary sciences as well as Sharia (Muslim Law), which are in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which aims at activating studies and research that serve the community and work on its development through cooperation between universities and government institutions.

HE Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, confirmed that scientific research conducted for community service and development, and for resolving issues of importance and concern for it, is one of the most important points focused on by the University within its current strategic five-year plan, out of the visions and aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah “May Allah Protect Him”. He added that the importance of such meeting with SRA comes through putting forward current research projects and ascertaining the latest developments thereof, discussing issues of currently concern by the community and working to provide new opportunities for research collaboration between different institutions in order to study and work towards a solution for these issues so that we can improve environmental, social and health conditions for individuals.

During the meeting, Prof. Mufid Samarai, Senior Advisor at SRA, conducted a presentation through which he gave a briefing on SRA and its sectors, and outlined the areas of current research activities between SRA and University of Sharjah, which include roads, water treatment and reuse, energy, climate and environment. In addition, he provided an overview of the new website recently launched by SRA and how to apply through it for requesting cooperation or research funding.

وفي كلمته الترحيبية، أشاد سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور عمرو عبد الحميد، مدير عام أكاديمية الشارقة للبحوث، بالتعاون المثمر بين المؤسستين والتي شملت عدة محاور، منها الطب والهندسة والعلوم، بالإضافة إلى تشجيع الباحثين في العديد من المحاور، منها العلوم الإنسانية والأدبية والشريعة الإسلامية، والتي تتماشى مع رؤية صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم الشارقة، بتفعيل الدراسات والبحوث التي تخدم المجتمع وتعمل على تنميته من خلال التعاون بين الجامعات والمؤسسات الحكومية.


من جانبه، أكد سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور حميد مجول النعيمي، مدير جامعة الشارقة أن البحث العلمي الذي يعمل على خدمة المجتمع وتطويره وحل القضايا التي تهمه، هو أحد أهم المحاور التي تركز عليها الجامعة خلال خطتها الاستراتيجية الخمسية الحالية حتى تلبي تطلعات صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي، عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم الشارقة رئيس جامعة الشارقة “حفظه الله ورعاه”.


وأضاف النعيمي، أن أهمية اللقاء تأتى من خلال طرح المشروعات البحثية الحالية والوقوف على أخر مستجداتها، بجانب مناقشة القضايا التي تهم المجتمع حالياً والعمل على فتح آفاق أرحب للتعاون البحثي بين المؤسسات المختلفة بهدف دراسة هذه القضايا والعمل على حلها من أجل تحسين الظروف البيئية والاجتماعية والصحية للأفراد.


خلال اللقاء قدم الأستاذ الدكتور مفيد السامرائي، مستشار أول لدى أكاديمية الشارقة للبحوث عرض تقديمي قدم من خلاله، نبذة عن الأكاديمية والمعاهد البحثية التابعة لها، وأوجه التعاون المشترك بين الأكاديمية وجامعة الشارقة والتي تشمل على مشروعات بحثية منها: الطرق، ومعاجلة المياه وإعادة استخدامها، والطاقة، والمناخ والبيئة، هذا بجانب استعراضه للموقع الإلكتروني الجديد التي أطلقته الأكاديمية مؤخرا، والخدمات الإلكترونية التي يوفرها للزائرين ومنها إمكانية تقديم طلب تعاون أو تمويل بحثي.

Terms and Conditions of Registration

The institutional representative completing this registration form accepts that s/he has the authority to confirm participation in this event on behalf of the institution, and that the institution is thereby bound by the terms and conditions of this registration.
Payment for the Tour is due within two weeks of the date of registration. This will be clearly displayed on the invoice sent to the representative’s email address provided upon registration.
Participation on this Tour is assumed as one representative per institution. Should the institution be interested in bringing (an) additional representative(s), this should be communicated with their INTCAS point-of-contact, who will advise as to additional costs and logistical arrangements.
The exhibiting institution will be liable for any additional costs incurred by INTCAS, should the institution change the name/details of its attending representative(s).
INTCAS will promote the participation of exhibiting institutions prior to the Tour, using institutional-approved content as displayed within the INTCAS platform. Any specific requests related to the promotion of an exhibiting institution should be communicated to the representative’s INTCAS point-of-contact.
Attending representatives accept that INTCAS may capture photos and record videos of the Tour, and consent to these photos and videos being used by INTCAS for its own promotional purposes via publicly accessed platforms, applications and websites.
Exhibiting institutions accept that INTCAS is not liable for any damage, loss, harm or injury experienced by the institution and its representative(s), beyond INTCAS’ reasonable control.
Exhibiting institutions accept that INTCAS may – in the best interests of the Tour – make last-minute changes to the Tour’s schedule, logistical arrangements, visited schools, etc. Any such changes will be communicated to attending representatives at the earliest possibility.
Exhibiting institutions accept that INTCAS shall not be liable for any delays or failures in performance resulting from acts beyond its reasonable control, including consequences of circumstances of Force Majeure.

Cancellation Policy
By completing this registration form, the institution agrees to the following cancellation policy:
- If notice of cancellation is received more than two months prior to event commencement, a full refund will be provided, or if unpaid the invoice will be cancelled.
- If notice of cancellation is received between one and two months prior to event commencement, a 50% refund will be provided, or if unpaid 50% of the invoice amount will be due.
- If notice of cancellation is received less than one month prior to event commencement, a refund will not be provided, or if unpaid the full invoice amount will be due. INTCAS will offer representation by way of a dedicated INTCAS counsellor at the institution’s table throughout the tour at no additional cost.
The date of cancellation is deemed as the date on which the emailed notice of cancellation is received at [email protected]
